This dress can be worn on its own just to go to work or you can combine it with a long open-frock summer jacket. The marked neckline allows you the freedom of wearing it without scarves or accessories that cover the neck. If you wear earrings choose the button ones rather than the long ones. For the feet you have several options; from “ballerinas” to a platform sandal as it is important for the base of the foot to be flat. Better in this case to avoid sandals or high-heeled shoes because wearing either of these would detract from the statement made by the dress.
Hair can be gathered together or worn loose but avoid falling into classicism, because although the cut of the dress is still classic, the fabric and its sporty details requires a more casual harmony.
Makeup: Considering the strength of black and white, intensify your eyes either with a gray and black eyeliner or with a dark brown mask, as it will strengthen the eyes without looking too aggressive.
The pattern of this dress is based on a justacorps-type jacket dress that I designed for a previous collection. A justacorps is a French 17th and 18th century frock coat top garment. In my case it is cut at the mid-leg length, but other lengths are possible depending on the designer, of course. This is important to know since you can break up the frock dress idea by combining it with cotton leggings or jeans, just as we would if it was a jacket. Here, scarf type accessories and long, large and coloured earrings will be perfect for you.
As for the shoes, I tend to go for some ballerinas again, but if you don’t feel comfortable with them, try some low-cut, wide-boot summer ankle boots.
Don’t even comb it. Try adding a straw hat or a bandeau, or a jewelled headband. The more accessories the merrier.
Red or orange lips. Peach blush. With hardly any makeup base and a touch of highlighter in certain areas of the face such as under the eyes, under the arch of the eyebrow and the sides of the nose.
Why have I designed it?
Having a knitted dress in the wardrobe gives you many possible looks. It is a very versatile dress that you can even wear well into the autumn.
